We are building an innovation ecosystem to conserve the Amazon rainforest by supporting innovation-driven solutions in artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) that are better for miners, communities, and the environment.

The Artisanal Mining Grand Challenge: the Amazon awarded US$ 1M+ in prizes and opportunities to support innovators, researchers, and entrepreneurs from all over the world to develop and implement solutions that address the environmental and social costs of ASGM in the Amazon.

Gold is used in electronics, jewelry, and other consumer products.

Innovators in the Field

The Amazon CoLab is a six-month acceleration program to support innovator teams identified through the Challenge with developing, testing, and advancing solutions to protect people and ecosystems in the Amazon.

The CoLab assists teams with product development, market validation, and field-testing to enable innovations’ uptake and adoption, financial sustainability and commercial success, and environmental and social impact in the Amazon region.
